Blue Boy, Evergreen

(That’s the current title, anyway)

  1. Adult Fantasy

  2. The Name of the Wind x The Standing Rock Protests

  3. A Fae + Human Afterlife

I’m giving everything I’ve got to be a Full time Fantasy Author

What’s the book about?

My debut novel is set in a fae and human afterlife, where folks can live and die again and again with all the same memories. But the magic system that allows the afterlife to operate—it’s failing.

Themes?

Queer joy, indigenous uprising, feminist men, female rage, bisexual panic, woke elders, anti-fascism, cultural complexities, all disguised in a fae + human afterlife fantasy novel.

But Like, I want to go all in…

One Dream: Masquerade Ball Book Launch

I believe there is a market for combining fantasy book balls with book launches. The Fantasy Ball scene has exploded in both the US and UK since 2023. I’ve spent years in the fantasy event space learning the logistics, making the connections and the target market is often the same.

A Weirder Dream: Faerie Smut (OnlyFae?)

Here me out. Booktok knows it. Wattpad knows it. Millions of words of fanfiction prove it. But no one has yet had the audacity to license their spicy scenes for the screen. I want to take the smut from the Vinamour scenes in Blue Boy, Evergreen and produce them in an ethical, feminist, diverse, body-positive, and cutting edge way. Think along the lines of this TED TALK by feminist adult director Erika Lust.

If that didn’t scare you off…

My Public Author Bucketlist

  1. Sign with a badass agent who believes in my manuscript

  2. Be nominated for a Hugo

  3. Be blurbed by Patrick Rothfuss or Robin Hobb

  4. Have a well attended debut book launch

  5. Option film rights

My Private Author Bucketlist

  1. Sign with a badass agent who believes in queer joy, absurd goals, diversity, wonder, me, themself, and become genuine friends.

  2. Contribute meaningfully in opposition to the censorship within the Hugos

  3. Convince Patrick Rothfuss or Robin Hobb to be friends with me

  4. Host a massive fantasy masquerade ball as a book launch. (Ahem, same target market)

  5. Fundraise for and produce a grand series of shorts, since short-form media seems to be the future.

But Kaitrin, how are you gonna do that?
